India’s defense minister told his Chinese counterpart on Thursday that violations of their participated border erode the “ entire base ” of relations between the two Asian neighbors.
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh made the comments during a meeting with recently appointed Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu in New Delhi ahead of an indigenous security peak on Friday.
The two defense chiefs had “ four square conversations about the developments in the India- China border areas as well as bilateral relations, ” according to a statement from the Indian Defense Ministry Rajnath Singh said following their talk. His visit comes four days after India and China concluded the 18th round of addresses to attempt to resolve the border issue. Ahead of his visit, China’s Ministry of Defense said Li will “ communicate and change views on issues of the transnational and indigenous situations as well as defense and security cooperation, ” at the SCO gathering.
