Accused of 17 murders including 2 children

n the 2002 Godhra riots,  the Gujarat court acquitted 22 accused of killing 17 people, including 2 children. All of them were accused of burning the dead body after the murder and inciting a riot. This massacre took place in Halol of Panchmahal. In this case, 8 accused have died during the trial itself.

Accused Gopal Singh Solanki’s lawyer said that the bench of Justice Harsh Trivedi has acquitted all the 22 accused. The session court acquitted all the accused due to lack of evidence. The case was heard in a court in Halol town.

In this case, the lawyer for the aggrieved side told the court that on February 28, 2002, 17 people, including two children, were killed in Halol in Panchmahal district. After this, the accused also burnt the dead bodies. 

The massacre was carried out on 27 February 2002, a day after a bogie of the Sabarmati Express was set on fire.
