BRICS Summit 2026: India is going to witness the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders are expected to attend the BRICS Summit, which will be held in Delhi on September 12 and 13. This will be the first time since October 2019 that President Xi will visit India. The theme for the gathering is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Xi’s Historic Visit
The Chinese President last visited India in October 2019. During that visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. Relations between the two nations collapsed in 2020 when Chinese soldiers crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Galwan Valley, Ladakh.
BRICS Summit 2026 to host key bilateral talks
After almost five years, the BRICS Summit will be held in India. With the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the summit will take place against the backdrop of sharp differences between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the West Asia conflict. There is also the possibility of separate bilateral meetings between the Chinese and Russian Presidents and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
